Performance comparison of capacitance-based flowmeter with gamma-ray attenuation-based two-phase flowmeter for determining volume fractions in an annular flow regime’s components

Precise metering of the void fraction is one important problems in oil, chemical and petrochemical industries. For measurement, there are different kinds sensors with configurations. In this regard, capacitance-based sensor gamma-ray attenuation-based very well known as two most accurate widely used sensors. paper, we report, to best our knowledge, for first time a comparison between these an annular air–oil flow. Simulations were accomplished benchmarked COMSOL Multiphysics software MCNPX code. Results show that general sensitivity ~ 90% higher than sensor. more comparison, momentary factors variety fractions both obtained. low range, has much better performance; however, high performance. range 0.9–1 fractions, 67%
